FELASA/Scand-LAS Symposium, 2010 in Finland
The 2010 FELASA/Scand-LAS Symposium is getting closer – the meeting is to be held 14-17 June 2010 in Helsinki, Finland with the title:
New Paradigms in Laboratory Animal Science
The venue of the meeting is Marina Congress Center, located at the seaside of downtown Helsinki – please see much more at: http://www.scandlas.org/felasa2010/index.htm and be aware of the following deadlines:
Abstract deadline: 31 March 2010
Hotel availability guaranteed before 9 April 2010
Early registration deadline: 30 April 2010
Please also note that the Scand-LAS annual meeting will take place during the Helsinki meeting – further info will be send regarding this and the election of national representatives from Norway and Sweden.

FELASA/Scand-LAS Symposium, Scholarships
The Scand-LAS Board is pleased to announce that they at the Board meeting 6 March 2010 decided to give 10 Scholarships plus 2 from the Scand-LAS Journal with the value of 1,000 EURO for participation in the joined FELASA/Scand-LAS Symposium in Helsinki, 14-17 June 2010.
The Scand-LAS Board received quite a number of applications, that in general were very good, and are happy to announce that this years recipients of the Scholarships are:
Malene Mussfeldt Birck (Scand-LAS Journal Scholarship), Yvonne Hansen, Kirsten Rosenmay Jacobsen, and Otto Kalliokoski (Scand-LAS Journal Scholarship) from Denmark
Virve Immonen from Finland
Karen Marie Egeland, Katja Elisabeth Isaksen, and Christer Wiggen Johnsen from Norway
Elisabeth Nilsson, Elin Weber, and Petra Wolbert from Sweden
Judith van Luijk from The Netherlands
Thank you for all the applications for the Scholarships and congratulation to the recipients from the Scand-LAS Board with the best wishes for a successful and inspiring meeting in Helsinki.
The Ulla Kristina Stephens Travel and Education Award, 2010
Through a very kind donation from Ulla Kristina Stephens, Scand-LAS got the opportunity to give a stipend for travel and education to one laboratory animal technician, who is a member of Scand-LAS. This stipend will give the possibility for one animal technician to go to American Association of Laboratory Animal Science´ (AALAS) annual meeting in Atlanta, 10-14 October 2010 and also to visit some animal facilities in the USA in conjunction with the meeting. The award is to provide travel funds, hotel funds, registration fee to the AALAS meeting and a full year membership for the American Association of Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS).
The application must include a full CV, motivation for attending and a letter of recommendation and must be submitted electronically to Jorgen.Jonsson@scandlas.org no later than 10 May 2010.

Scand-LAS Symposium, 2011 in Denmark
The 2011 Scand-LAS Symposium has now been confirmed to take place in Copenhagen 25-28 May 2011 – further information will continuously be updated at the Scand-LAS web www.scandlas.org and 1st announcement with more details and a preliminary program will be available in connection to the joined FELASA/Scand-LAS Symposium in Helsinki – but please already now book the dates in your 2011 calendar, and feel free to contact Lars Friis Mikkelsen lfmi@novonordisk.com for any further questions or ideas in relation to the 2011 meeting in Copenhagen.
